Script to Screen is a program for grades 3-12.

Spark studentscreativity in a one-of-a-kind program that elevates skills in writing, public speaking, performing, acting, self-confidence, problem-solving, and teamwork.

STEAM concepts including aspects of history, science, technology, engineering, math, and art may be included within the screenplay, meeting state standards and mandates, all while engaging students in an exciting and entertaining workshop.

How It Works:

Script to Screen meets as a two-hour after-school club for eight to ten weeks, led by author/screenwriter Linda Oatman High and educational expert/teacher Tamie Myers.  On the first day of the program, students brainstorm ideas for their movie. The remaining workshops are filled with writing, rehearsing, memorizing lines, and working on acting techniques. Two Saturday sessions lasting three hours each are scheduled with the filmmaker, Dylan Bordner. After editing, the film is shown on the big screen in a local movie theatre for a red-carpet celebration.

Why Your Students Need It:

Script to Screen sparks creativity as well as an interest in writing and acting. The program benefits fluency and improves reading skills, public speaking, vocabulary, and visual thinking. Students will also learn to boost their communication skills through clear speech and active listening, with emotional growth, empathy, and self-expression. Teamwork and confidence are built into the program, and working as an in-person group encourages real-life, non-virtual friendships.Growth is experienced in the five core development skills:

Past Programs:

The program launched at Greenwich Elementary in February of 2025, with the movie Imagine All the History being shown at the Strand Theatre in Kutztown, PA on April 25th. Script to Screen brought the community together, with local businesses donating pizzas, drinks, cookies, and printed posters. A local high school student contributed by designing the movie’s cover art.
